“Out of the Sun” Film Festival Offers Retreat From the Heat
Lake Oconee news
Posted July 31, 2008
During the month of August, the Madison Museum of Fine Art will present its 2008 “Out of the Sun” Independent Film Festival sponsored by Milan Entertainment Inc.. This year’s festival will feature three award winning documentaries with screening venues at the Madison Museum of Fine Art and the Plaza Arts Center in Eatonton. . Proceeds from the Plaza Arts Center venue will jointly benefit the Museum and the Eatonton-Putnam Arts Foundation.
Says Michele Bechtell, Museum Director, “Each film is edgy, educational, and has received screenings at other museums including the Boston Museum of Fine Art, the LA Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Cleveland Museum of Contemporary Art. After playing in the water or a round of golf, these films offer residents and tourists in the region a physically and mentally refreshing community experience.”
The theme for this year’s “Out of the Sun” series is international contemporary music. The three films include Sanctuary: Lisa Gerrard, Moro No Brasil, and Screaming Masterpiece. Sanctuary is a sensitive film portrait of the reclusive Hollywood composer and abstract solo vocal artist whose ethereal musical style and spiritual philosophy has captivated audiences for over 20 years. Moro No Brazil takes viewers on a colorful 4000 kilometer journey through the musical heart of Brazil. And Screaming Masterpiece documents the development of the unique and eccentric sound of contemporary Icelandic music against the backdrop of breathtaking landscapes with creeping glaciers, barren highland sands, and dark raging seas full of ghosts. Tickets are Limited : $10 per adult. $5 for youth under 12. Children under 5 free.
